A Dog Assessment is a vital step prior to any dog training. This helps us identify and evaluate the issues your dog is displaying and assess the current level of training, as well as the dog's temperament, to determine the most effective training method. What works for one dog does not necessarily work for another. This will identify any specific training requirements and provide essential information to determine the root cause of any behavioural problems and how to correct this behaviour. There is always a reason why a dog behaves in a certain way; the key is to find out 'how' and 'why'.
This assessment takes approximately 1 hour.
During the assessment, we will observe your dog's behaviours and discuss our recommendations with you before proceeding with any training. It is very important to us that you understand and agree with our approach. We will be able to see 'how' and 'why' they are reacting a certain way, and what the triggers are. This is also an opportunity to observe how you communicate with your dog, which will ultimately help us choose the best training methods. Based on this information, we can then create an appropriate training plan.
All dog breeds react differently to triggers. This is why one method or exercise drill does not work in the real world; principles do. Everything you do with your dog stems from understanding the principles. Principles can be adapted to any dog, any training or any situation.
Through our experience, we understand the different responses certain breeds can exhibit.
Any methods we use to teach your dog (and you!) during lessons must be maintained; consistency in dog training is key!
